'You ask, you get'
June.29/2014
PM James McColl
Canada
--------------------
"Ok everybody, so the consensus is that we commit more troops?" McColl
asked.
"Aye" they all chorused.
The PM and his cabinet were all having a hasty meeting after the news hit
that a car bomb had killed 10 Montrealers and that the Toronto RCMP had
arrested suspects with links to the Iranian military.
"Alright. I suggest we hold off publicly committing more until we know more
information about this. Once we have the full picture, we will see what
happens, ok? I will do a speech on national TV in two days to go over what
has happened, and what will happen in the near future regarding Iran, and
these suspects. In the meantime, I want CSIS and the RCMP on this one with
everything they have, and I want any and all information shared with MI-6
and the the relevant American agencies. If this was the Iranians, they are
obviously now more of a threat than we previously thought. We do know that
they have financed terrorist groups for many years, but I want facts." the
PM was a stickler for facts.
Julia Bachman cut in, "I suggest we also start pressuring our allies to move
faster on the Iran issue, as the sooner we start, the sooner it will be
done."
"True, very true. If we were going to commit more, what would be the
approximate number John?" that was the PM again.
John Ansdale, MoD, replied, "Well, im thinking in the ballpark of another
5,000 troops. We have excellent reserves too now. As the reg-force becomes
depleted, we can start augmenting them with volunteers from the reserves if
necessary. The Parachute battalion from the PPLCLI and the mechanized
battalions from the Lord Strat, Vandoos, and the Royal Canadian Regiment
will be among the forces we could potentially send. The first shipment of
the new Leclerc MBT's from France will be arriving in the next couple of
weeks too, so hopefully they will be in service soon. After we make the
necessary modifications of course."
The meeting wrapped up quickly after that, as not much was left to be said.
Last minute preparations were also underway for the upcoming visit in early
July from Jack Decker, the new Australian PM, and for McColl's also recently
planned visit to DC in late July to meet with Williams.
------------------------
Actions:
1] Figure out whats going on with these terrorist strikes.
2] Possibly contribute more to the Azerbaijan mission, depending on what is
unearthed regarding the recent terrorism
3] Plan and prepare for visiting Aussie PM Decker and McColl's visit to DC.
4] Reassure the nation
