"Ambassador, tell the French that the time for decision has come,"
Williams spoke into the phone, an exasperated edge to his voice.
"They've talked a good game - now's time for them to commit."

"Yes sir," replied his Ambassador in Paris.

"Moving on: Chris, your staff gets a cookie. Damn good job bringing
the Europeans around - with no caveats, either! Woohoo," beamed the
POTUS.

"Thank you, Mr. President," replied SECSTATE over the DSN link from
Paris. "I'll nudge Legrand myself, too."

"Meanwhile....Okay folks. Starting now, we begin using every inch of
pressure we can put on Iran.

"Speechwriting is to draft 3 potential speeches.

"One: In the event of a UN Chapter 7 authorization, speech from right here.

"Two: In the event of failure through the UN, speech to Congress
asking for a declaration of war against Iran.

"Three: In the event of the success of diplomatic options, a speech for that.

"EOP is to continue scheduling town hall meetings with the Tribes -
schedule em for July and August, war permitting.

"Iran again: DOD is to submit legislation to the Congress seeking full
mobilization and declaration of national emergency.

"NAVCENT will submit to me within one week plans for the mining of
Iranian harbors immediately upon the declaration of war or UN
authorization of action. At the same time, Naval forces will strike
Iranian antiair positions.

"AFCENT will, upon first minutes of war, strike Iranian air defense
and missile sites. NAVEUR will position to provide BMD cover for
Europe and Israel. ARCENT will cover Georgia. *Presume* those missiles
are potentially nuclear.

"DEFCON 4 and FPCON CHARLIE will apply worldwide. Higher at
commanders' discretion. Dependents will evacuate from all posts in the
Mideast.

"AZFOR will move across the Georgian borders within one hour of the
report to COCOM of UN or Congressional authorization."

Then, a simple nod. The orders were given.
