"India: Condolences"
President Ashwini Kanchwala, Republic of India
July 25, 2006

[Open Letters]

To: President John Williams, United States of America
George W. Bush [Formerly President], United States of America
From: President Ashwini Kancwhala, Republic of India

Dear Sir,

It saddened my countrymen and I, on the evening of the 23rd, to hear
of the tragedy that befell the leadership of your nation. The
sympathy of the Indian people and government is with the American
people on the attempted assassination of former President George W.
Bush and the untimely death of Vice President Dick Cheney. I,
personally and on the behalf of my nation, would request that you
pass to the families of former President Bush and Vice President
Cheney my country's condolences, and in the former case, hopes for a
speedy recovery.

Yet, for the two of us, we must also look forward to the future
relationship between our two nations and peoples. It is my hope, and
the hope of my government, that the warm relations our two nations
have enjoyed of late continue and improve in the coming months and
years.

Sincerely,
Ashwini Kanchwala
President of the Republic of India

From: President Ashwini Kancwhala, Republic of India

Dear Sir,

It saddened my countrymen and I, on the evening of the 23rd, to hear
of the tragedy that befell you on your return from Russia. The
sympathy of the Indian people and government is with you during your
recovery, which we all sincerely hope is swift and gentle. You,
during your just ended term as leader of your nation, were a good
friend of India and its people, and this friendship shall not be
forgotten.

Sincerely,
Ashwini Kanchwala
President of the Republic of India
