"Please"
Ryu Seung-bok
Leader of the 'Korean Revolutionary Force'
July 23, 2006
=====================================
The sun was just about to rise when Seung had been given the news. The
battle had not gone well. The last raid had been a disaster, more than 100
rebels had been trapped inside the small military base they had attacked.
One night later the North Korean army had fired a thousand artillery rounds
on the structure and surrounding area.
"Such brave men…we have lost so many." He sat with his head in his hands, he
had been fighting for so long he could barley remember any life before it.
Those who followed him did so with the hope that weighed like the mountains
on his shoulders.
"We need help, we can't keep this up any longer." Jin said with a sigh.
"You say that like I have been trying to fight my own personal war. Maybe I
have, but Jin you know as well as I do, no one cares for North Korea. None
but us. Even if we did call out, who would listen, who would help?"
"That maybe, and the best way to find out, is never to try." Jin looked at
Seung with a slight smile. Trying desperately to bring his old friend out of
the misery he had been sinking. "Over the years I have managed to make
friends. Friends who have friends of their own, it may be nothing…or it
maybe the beginning to everything!"
Seung stood up and moved to the window, watching the rain pour down, and in
the wind for a second he could swear hearing gunfire he nodded and closed
his eyes. "Hope can sustain a man, sometimes even false hope." He turned and
nodded to Jin, and walked out into the rain.
==========================
Jin had waited only minutes before pulling out a satellite phone. Guerillas
they were, but hardly primitive, years of fighting had taught them a few
things about staying off the normal lines of detection.
The phone rang only once before a voice on the other side answered
"Yes?"
"Its Jin, we need help."
"What kind?"
"Any that you can offer. Get a hold of anyone who will listen we've done all
we can, we wont survive for much longer without outside aid. "
"I'll get in touch with people who might be willing. No promises." And with
that the line went dead.
============================
ACTIONS
1) Bring us into the present.
2) Using non-official channels ask for aid from South Korea, Japan, and
