Unlike many if not all here, I've never taken a poli-sci class. Hell,
the extent of my political knowlege other than the roughs covered in
High School sociology class is when presidential running starts and I
go through my traditional research the bejeebus out of the canidates
to see who's worthy of my vote.

Speaking as a 'plebian' here, the realities of politics is for the
most part on the dry side and keeping things here taut to real world
minutae almost comes across like writing Real Person Fiction.

One of the things that's been a longtime concern has been attracting
new players and I do feel that one of the things that can potentially
hamper recruiting is being heavy handed with the 'keeping it real'.

Now, I am when it comes to writing the most virulent advocate of
keeping things real, even in the horror games I run where it's your
choice of surviving against zombies or fleeing from a stampede of
killer tomatoes. When I heard the tale of a past WAR player who tried
to bring in Gundam style robots, my eye started doing it's Stress
Twitch of Doom.

Yet, equally I am fond of the alternate history genre. There's always
a wonder out there on 'What If?', we've seen it on documentaries about
had General so and so done this at this battle, how it could've
changed events to come.

I do have to agree with Buckley on as long as the posts must without
question be exceptional quality posts of plausibility along with the
blessings of the GMvirut to allow some diversion from real world
situation.

I would find it very intriguing to see how would the 21st century
climate deal with a country's reverting to something along the lines
of a medieval fiefdom, or a country turning into
isolationists...etc...

I know there's been some muttered concerns in the past about things
getting too bizzare, but I do feel that the members here have enough
respect for the game to not act like twinks.

ought to be at least a few sharks in the water.
