President Jean Mbembe
Libreville
Andre Onlongo, Minister of Labour strode though the halls towards the
President's office. While rather pleased at how the President had
given much attention to his area, it had made certain...shortfalls
readily apparent.
Hopefully the President would accept them and they'd come to some solution.
As it seemed more often than not, Mbembe was buried under stacks of
reports, making crisp notes in a firm hand before sending a beginning
to look worn assistant to relay the final words to the assorted
ministers.
It took him a short while to notice he wasn't alone as Onlongo sat
before the desk.
"Ah, Andre, a pleasure to see you.", Mbembe said with a smile as he
set his pen down.
"Thank you, Mr. President.", Onlongo said with a polite nod.
"Did you get my commentary over the increased hiring?", Mbembe asked.
"I did...and that is why I am here.", Onlongo said, "We are trying to
increase hiring, and we have many lining up, especially among the
emigres fleeing whoever's fighting. Many are women with children but
too many are lacking in basic skills."
"Elaborate?"
"If we needed goatherds, we would be amply covered. But we need
construction workers to build new refineries, need skilled workers to
man the pumps and the equipment. I spoke with Toulon and he needs
more patrols to fight the poachers we've seen a growing increase on."
Mbembe nodded. With Wami over across the country doing some
impressive housecleaning, the ripples were even being felt this far.
He didn't envy the man his tasks before him.
"I heard from Mbande about organizing larger trade schools for
training.", Mbembe said, "Perhaps you and he should work out
something."
"I have.", Onlongo said, "But he has troubles with having updated
teaching supplies."
"Very well. That will be our next project. For a Gabon of the new
millenium, we will not be lagging behind long."
Onlongo nodded, knowing there'd be many late nights to come. "Thank
you, Mr. President.", he replied, "We will keep you informed through
our reports."
Mbembe nodded and was soon back up to his nose in reports, leaving
Onlongo to find the door on his own. He wasn't sure what to fully
make of this new president who was more tied into paperwork, but as
there weren't demonstrations in the streets, one would see what would
happen.
Actions-
1) Contact the major nations ala US, UK, France...for educational aid
in the form of books, programs and such to improve education beginning
from the basics up to skilled labour.
2) Start specialized education facilities to start training the
unskilled with basic knowledge to better fit into the job market.
3) Start working on the poaching issue somehow-still hashing this one out.

ought to be at least a few sharks in the water.
